Biography

Wilfred (Fred) Clelland was born in Holland, MI. He grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee where he received a B.A. in 1986. His postgraduate degrees are from the University of Tennessee where he received both his MBA and JD in 1990. Fred is a member of the Chattanooga Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association and the Brock-Cooper Inns of Court. He is licensed to practice in the State of Tennessee and is admitted to the Tennessee Supreme Court and the United States District Court, Eastern District of Tennessee.

Since graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Law, Fred has been involved in a diverse practice. During the first ten years of his career in law, Fred was a partner in a general practice law firm where he handled everything from domestic relations/criminal work to personal injury litigation. Since 1999, when he joined the firm of Baker, Kinsman, Hollis & Clelland, P.C., Fred’s practice has consisted primarily of general defense litigation with a focus on representation of insurance companies, their insureds and other corporate entities. In 2020, Fred joined Warren and Griffin where he is representing parties injured by the negligence of others.

Fred has tried cases throughout Middle and East Tennessee and has argued cases before the Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court. Fred is married to his wife, Mary Ann, and they have two children, Emily and Mary Catherine. Fred and his family are members of First Centenary United Methodist Church.
