Biography

Derek M. Nelson is a personal injury attorney focused in Cleveland, TN and Chattanooga, TN representing individuals primarily in auto accident and workers’ compensation cases. His legal career began in 2014 and he has helped injured individuals recover millions of dollars since.

Derek believes that no case is the same and takes time to understand each individual case. He understands the nuances and complexities involved in each case, and has successfully made a recovery in thousands of cases via settlement or trial. Derek uses a direct approach, trying to make sure clients understand the decisions and options in their cases.

Derek has appeared on Chattanooga and Cleveland area television and radio to discuss a variety of topics aimed to educate the public on important legal issues.

Derek graduated from Auburn University in 2011 and earned his juris doctor from the University of Arkansas in 2014. He was admitted to practice law in Tennessee that same year and is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. He is a member of the Chattanooga Bar Association and Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association.

In his spare time, you will probably find Derek spending time with his family or out on the golf course.
